Lenovo launched a series of new IdeaPad laptops includes a new IdeaPad Z-Series line of 13 to 15 inch multimedia laptops with prices starting at $649 and several new models in the company’s thin and light U-series. The one I’m most interested in is the Lenovo IdeaPad U160, which has an 11.6 inch display, weighs about 3 pounds, and measure 0.9 inches thick.
The IdeaPad U160 At $699 is a bit pricier than the Lenovo IdeaPad U150. But it packs a bit more power, thanks to the new Intel Core i-series processor options. The IdeaPad U160 will be available with a choice of Intel Celeron, Pentium, Core i3, i5, or i7 processors with speeds ranging from 1.06GHz to 1.2GHz. The computer will also come with a choice of Windows 7 Starter, Windows 7 Home Basic, and Windows 7 Home Premium.
The Lenovo IdeaPad U160 supports up to 4GB of RAM and will be available with a 250GB, 320GB, or 500GB hard drive. The laptop has 802.11b/g or 802.11b/g/n WiFi options, optional Bluetooth, and optional 3G connectivity.
The computer comes standard with 3 USB ports, an eSATA port, a 5-in-1 flash card reader, mic, headphone, VGA, and HDMI ports. It has a 1366×768 pixel display and 1.3MP webcam.
With a 3 cell batter, the IdeaPad U160 weighs 2.76 pounds. The 6 cell battery adds a little heft, but still brings the total weight to just 3.09 pounds. Lenovo says you should be able to expect up to 7 hours of run time with a 6 cell battery, or half that with the 3 cell version.
The Lenovo IdeaPad U160 should be available in June.
