NAD has announced that it is to replace its C315BEE stereo integrated amplifier with a new entry-level model, the C316BEE, which offers improved power efficiency, eco-friendly features and serious performance.

Like the legendary NAD 3020 – which started the NAD affordable stereo amplifier dynasty some 35 years ago – this amplifier combines an unexpectedly high power output with a range of genuinely useful facilities. Bjorn Erik Edvardsen, NAD’s director of advanced development (and the BEE in the model’s name), has developed a simplified version of the company’s proprietary PowerDrive circuit for the C316BEE. This delivers “a combination of high current drive needed for complex loudspeaker loads, combined with high levels of undistorted power,” says Edvardsen.

Power is 40W per channel, there are six inputs, one set of speaker terminals, a headphone jack and remote control. And to maintain its ‘green’ credentials, the C316BEE uses less than 1W in standby, and is made using lead-free silver solder.

The NAD C316BEE Stereo Amplifier is available now for £260
