Like Electric Car by Boutique Automaker Mitsuoka Motor
Japan’s newest electric car isn’t made by one of the nation’s many major automakers, but sometimes it needs a venture to accelerate potentially positive developments in rather conservative industries. Boutique automaker Mitsuoka Motor has now begun accepting orders for “Like”, a 5-seat electric car that’s based on Mitsubishi Motors’s i-MiEV the Like was unveiled earlier this year.
The 580-people company established in 1978 says one of the main selling points of the car is that it features a rear seat that can be used by three people instead of two. Another difference to i-MiEV is the length of the vehicle: at a total length of 3,570mm, it’s 175mm longer than the Mitsubishi it’s 1,610mm high and 1,475mm wide. Mitsuoka also threw in a new front design and metal-plated bumpers, which the i-MiEV doesn’t offer.

200 Watts Differential Bridge GainClone Tube Hybrid High Power Amplifier
A common design choice is to run two solid-state power amplifiers differentially, so that the loudspeaker never makes a connection to ground, as each power amplifier swings output voltage in the opposite direction. Such an arrangement allows twice the voltage and current swings into the load, so four times the potential power output should be developed. Well, that’s the theory; reality is a bit more stingy. For example, bridge two 50W power amplifiers should be able to deliver 200W high power amplifier into the same 8-ohm load.
Usually, we don’t get the full 200 Watts. Why not? When an 8-ohm load is attached to the differential amplifier, each amplifier effectively sees a 4-ohm load, not an 8-ohm load. So the differential can only deliver twice what it puts out into a 4-ohm load. For example, a nominally 50W power amplifier might be able to put out 75W into 4 ohms, so two of these amplifiers run differentially would develop 150W into an 8-ohm load, twice the 4-ohm output. Of course, if the 50W amplifier can deliver 100W into 4 ohms, then bridge two in a differential arrangement would yield 200W into 8 ohms.
